My Day and Night Perfumes

Hi Everyone!

I feel that no outfit is complete without a splash of your favourite perfume, so I thought I'd share with you my staple perfumes for day and night..even if I'm having one of those days where just nothing looks right or my makeup smudges etc, I can always count on my trusty perfumes to freshen me up! So without further ado..

Let's start with day perfume...my relatively new favourite! It's replaced my old fave which is 'Malabah' by Penhaligons, I still love that scent but it's a little strong so I only wear it on special occasions or on a more daring day. My new daytime scent is J'adore by Dior. I can't stress to you how amazing this perfume is. There's no worry of being completely over-powered by the smell as it's very light and fresh. It's not a floral smell exactly, but imagine smelling a a Lily-Of-The-Valley mixed in with just that magic something, it's hard to explain but seriously...couldn't live without it! I wear this almost every day plus the bottle is exquisite glass with very elegant shape:

My night-time perfume is a gorgeous perfume that I've had for a long time. It's 'Cinéma' by Yves Saint Laurent. The smell is so individual, it's very musky and heavy so I recommend it in small spritzes. For some reason (probably the name..*blushes*) it reminds me of 1940's Paris, I feel so glamorous wearing it, it makes me feel confident and aaah it's just amazing! Anyways...here it is:

As you can see, the design is gorgeous, for the better-sighted of you see the amazing detail on the photo above. It has Yves Saint Laurent printed all over in gold letters, I'd buy it just for the prettiness of the bottle! You can probably tell that I've used this a lot as it has about half a centimetre left..*cryface* which is depressing me since I think it might be limited edition, but definitely check it out online/in store if you're interested! What are your day and night perfumes??

I'm a Benefit ADDICT!

Hi Everyone!

So being ill today I was pretty (unbearably) bored, so decided to get all my makeup onto my sick-bed and sort it out. And this is what I found...in short, a sea of Benefit and not much else. :

It's shameful really..
It kinda puzzles me how I came to buy this as I actually have pretty tan skin anyway..probably just an impulse buy *shameface*

A girl can NEVER have too much gloss! (Pretty sure this isn't all of it)

You know how I rave about Benefit's tints? Well yeah..product of rave right there (x High beam and Benetint by two)

Ok to be fair this was a present..and it's fabulous!

....corner of shame
So there you have it! I love all these products, have you tried any of them?

See you one the flip side,

Mac Lipstick Collection!

Hi Everyone!

So I was rummaging through my lipstick drawer yesterday (it's a horrible mess!) and sorted it all out, extracting my four absolute faves which all happen to be Mac, so since I'm in love with all of them, I thought I'd share them with you..here we go, in no particular order, my Mac lipstick collection:

The first is my newest purchase, it's a very daring shade with a daring name: 'Viva Glam 1'. I love to pair it with skinnies and a floaty top to subdue it a little, or preferably just go the whole hog and wear it with a ball gown! I fell in love with it the moment I swatched it and positively melted when I tried it on. It's soft, nourishing and easy to apply. My only 'problem' *notreally* is that the colour pay off is great but there's not really any versatility, either ya wear the colour or ya don't. :

The next is a lipstick my lovely sister bought me for christmas, it was limited edition so I'm not sure it's available any more, but I sure hope it is for your sake because I ADORE this colour! It's a very pretty nude-ish lipstick with a hint of shimmer and a little gloss. I wear its sister gloss in the same shade every day but often this lipstick: 'I Love Winter cremesheen' makes a guest appearance! It glides on smoothly and smells amazing. Lovelovelove:

The third lipstick is actually pretty old, I got it a while back and haven't checked if it's still available but I really hope it is because I'll be needing a new one soon! It's a dark berry colour that's very smooth and quite matte. I love how it can vamp up any outfit and is pretty versatile for different occasions. The shade is 'Desire' :

The last is a soft pinky-nude that I woudn't usually go anywhere near, but when I tried it on I forgot any qualms I'd had previously, it's so nourishing for my lips and stays put for hours without a lip primer in sight! The shade is 'Touch'. I'd recommend this to pretty much anyone:

All of the above lipsticks are £13.50 and are available in the UK, USA and Canada. See online or in store for details. Have you ever tried any of these shades? How did they work for you? Any Mac shades you'd recommend?

'I'm Glam Therefore I Am' by Benefit- Review

Hi Everyone!

So my birthday was in October, and my lovely uncle got me this gorgeous Benefit makeup set. I've been using all the different components of the set separately, but haven't actually tried them all out together. So what better time than a thursday night right? Alrighty, lets GO:

As you can see, the packaging is stunning! It's quite a big compact, 10cm x 14cm. Now I personally prefer this as it's like an alternative to a makeup bag, it has practically everything you'd need in it and REALLY everything if I pair it with my Benefit 'Realness of Concealness' compact. :

Opening it really is like uncovering a treasure trove..so many beautiful goodies:

The set contains 'Girl Meets Pearl' which is a shell pink face luminator, 'Glamming Face Powder' with brush, four eyeshadows (from left) in 'Pink Fancy', 'Icy Lilac', 'Posh Amethyst' and 'Precious Pewter'. 'BADgal Lash' mascara and 'Life On The A-List' lip gloss.

Before I switched to 'Volume Million Lashes'  by L'oreal, this is the mascara I used, I only switched to L'oreal's to have a bit of variety...but I keep coming back to BADgal! Its brilliant and gives my lashes a natural look whilst volumising and separating them. The 'Life On The A-List' lip gloss is a very pretty nude that pairs perfectly with the makeup in this compact.

'Girl Meets Pearl' is described as 'liquid pearl for the face', but it's basically just a luminiser,  I  really love it, it brightens up my face without changing my natural skin tone and evens out my imperfections so that, on a good day I don't need foundation or concealer at all!

The 'Glamming Face Powder' has a gorgeous subtle shimmer that's perfect for any occasion, I wear it most days and  love it!

I'm absolutely in love with these eyeshadows. They remind me of precious stones, and lots of their names are inspired by them! The eyeshadows aren't too shimmery which I mush prefer as I can layer them without clash. To be honest, I'd buy the compact just for these little gems!

Now for the fun part: 3..2..1 :

Before:

After:

I really adore this product and would recommend it to absolutely everyone! Admittedly, it's a bit of an investment at £30.00 but it really is worth it, everything in it is of the highest quality, and it's so incredibly handy! Hope you enjoyed :D

Go Clinique ladies!

Hi Everyone!

So my mum returned from Selfridges yesterday with a little something for me. She bought me this gorgeous Clinique lipstick in Rouge Impact Extreme Pink 19 (catchy name I know). She's tried it out in store and it hadn't suited her but she said she knew it would suit me..and she was right! It's a bold colour that can be versatile if blotted for a pretty pink or layered for a more dressy look.

As you can see above, the packaging is very elegant and the cap has a slow closing mechanism which helps to avoid smushed lipstick top (I problem I have with lipsticks). It's very slightly green in colour which is one of my favourite shades and coordinates well with the rest of my make-up bag (oh the things that excite me..).

The lid has a cute 'C' on it just in case I forget the brand! I love the subtle shimmer of the lipstick, it makes it such an interesting shade to wear.

As you can see from my swatch, the lipstick shows up much paler on my hand, but luckily the colour translates perfectly on my lips! It's not nearly as sheer as it appears to be, it might just be the light (hey..you try taking a picture with only one hand for focus and zoom on a Canon EOS..it's hard :'( )

The colour translates perfectly onto my lips, the texture of the lipstick is smooth and not at all sticky! It glides on fuss-free and nourishes my lips too. A definite ***** and must have! I'd definitely recommend this shade to anyone with dark hair and olive skin, but I'm sure it's look great on somebody with extremely light colouring, I'm afraid in-betweeners (ha) might be excluded, but there are a huge selection of other shades, so go crazy! At £16 the lipstick isn't cheapest on the market, but it's definitely worth it. Available at most large Boots, Selfridges, House of Fraser and Debenhams, as well as other stores nationwide, see online for details.

Vanquish Those Spots!

Hi Everyone!

Breakouts? Me to! But luckily my fail-safe evening skincare routine will keep yours at bay whilst keeping your skin smooth and natural oil balance perfect. So behold, the five products that will give your face the pampering it deserves without breaking the bank:

First is my Witch Oil Control Foaming facial wash. I've always liked foam face washes as they don't feel too heavy on your skin and leave you feeling clean and refreshed, but this one in particular I must say is a revelation. I was immediately excited when I spotted this product on the shelf, I'd been on the look-out for Witch products as I'd heard good things about them. I was a little disappointed with the product when I first used it, as it seemed to soak up all the natural moisture in my skin rather than balancing it. But once I figured out the right moisturiser (shown later) to use with it it worked a dream; my skin has never felt better! The product is practically scentless, which I personally prefer as it leaves your skin feeling much more natural. At around £4.00 the product really is worth it. Available in Superdrug and most other drug stores in the UK:

Second is my Clearasil toner. Not only is this product cheap, but it really really works! The product is designed to get rid of '100%' of spots. As you can probably guess, I didn't really buy this statement at first..and granted, maybe it's more like 98% but either way my spot quantity has definitely decreased! It leaves my pores tight and my face clean. I was a little sceptical of the product at first as it smelt slightly like some kind of acidic chemical, but it works...so we can deal with the smell. Available in most UK drug stores:

Third is my Clean&Clear by Johnsons cleanser. This product is about £3.00 and is perfect for when you don't have many spots, but just want to keep that healthy 'glow'. I only use this product twice a week as I don't like to over-load my skin, but it reduces my pores really well and I would certainly recommend this to anyone with sensitive/oily skin. Available in most UK drug stores:

The fourth product is my Kiehls moisturiser. Ok..so this might not be 'affordable' as such, we all know Kiehls is notoriously expensive, but it's pretty much the only moisturiser that really works on my skin. It's creamy, completely scentless and doesn't irritate my skin at all. My skin has never been softer and if you stumble across a little extra cash I'd definitely pounce on this product..it's divine! Available in UK and US drug stores:

The last product is my Clearasil 4hr spot redness reduction cream. I believe this product is around £6.00, but the tube lasts ages and it really does work. I don't know about you, but my spots are rarely big, they just  tend to be very red, which is most annoying when I'm trying to look fresh without coats and coats of concealer. This cream works amazingly! Just a tiny dab on any red areas and when you wake up in the morning you'll be fresh as a daisy! Go buy it..NOW. You know you want to ;) :

Hope this helps! Let me know in the comments about your experiences with these products or any questions you have about them.

Forget Ying and Yang, make it Candles and Ugg boots!

Hi everyone!

So work stress has really been getting to me at the moment, and I figure it must be getting to some others in cyberspace space right now. So here are my top 5 beauty/fashion related de-stressers that really seem to work for me:

 1) Burning my Space NK 'Enrapture Candle'. Not only does the candle have a gloriously subtle floral smell but I find that it's generally relaxing to have candles around you as it sets a calming atmosphere, this is definitely a fave of mine:

 2) My Neals Yard Rose and Pomegranate Bath oil. This soothing bath oil has a lovely musky-ness to it with under-tones of rose and the sweetness of pomegranate. I love to add a few drops of this to my bath if I'm feeling particularly run down or achey; it works like a charm and is a must-have for those rare evenings when you have lots of time to yourself and a chance to unwind. If you're interested in this product check out Neals Yard Remedies online or in stores such as the Kings Road branch London. :

 3) my Ugg boots. It sounds silly to put this on my list, but honestly there's nothing worse than cold feet! I pair these with my most comfy pair of PJs on cold nights (and lazy Sundays)if I want to be really relaxed and cosy. Check them out in the Ugg store if you're interested, they're an investment but totally worth it! :

 4) Glamour Magazine. Don't get me wrong, I adore pawing the pages of Vogue, Grazia, Marie Claire etc, but I'm a Glamour girl at heart. The great thing about Glamour is how cheap it is, I don't know about you but £4.95 for one Vogue is a little much. Glamour have achieved the perfect combination between fashion, beauty, gossip and advice. Many of my favourite beauty products are those recommended by Glamour... + they come with super goodies from time to time! :

 5) My BodyShop nail polishing block. I don't know why, but I just can't relax unless my nails look at least reasonably good. The block keeps my nails looking shiny, smooth and strong without the need for polish. It has four sides, one for filing, one for removing ridges, one for creating shine and one for smoothing. At £4.00 I would highly recommend this product! :

So there you have it, my top 5 beauty/fashion de-stresses. I hope this helps someone out there to cope with stress as much as it's helped me!
